“The responsibility of rearing good, kind, ethical, responsible human beings – is the biggest job anyone can embark on. As with any risk, you have to take a leap of faith and ask lots of wonderful people for their help and guidance.” Maria Shriver
In their ever increasing desire to be an asset to speakers and the Colorado community, Denver Speakers Bureau is providing a valuable series of talks. Each month, the series will focus on one major topic and be offered free to the public. The topic for the month of October is “Parenthood.”
On Saturday, October 19, Denver Speakers Bureau will present a series of talks on the ever elusive topic by three talented presenters. It have been conveniently chunked into three convenient 45 minute presentation that will each be near and dear to mothers, fathers and the people who support those in the unenviable position of Parenthood. The program will be held at the Parker Library from 1:30-4:30- conveniently divided into three fourty-five minute talks as follows:
1:30-2:15- Doug Gertner “The Grateful Dad” presents How to Be (or Support) a Truly Involved Dad
2:30-3:15- Dale Skram- Creating an Emotionally Safe Home
3:30-4:15- Mike Thompson- Marching to Greatness as a Parent- Five Steps to Being a Great Parent
Each is an accomplished speaker in their own right. Doug and Mike are each authors and have their own radio shows. Dale regularly wows audiences with her enthusiasm and positivity. An exciting part of the series is that it is being provided to the public at no charge. It is Denver Speakers Bureau’s way to support the community through education, showcase subject matter experts and highlight a local charity.
Knowing that finding a three hour chunk of time may be difficult for many, the public is invited to attend whichever talks best fit into their time or interest level.
The charity of choice for October is Project Linus- a non profit that was founded in Parker 18 years ago and has provided almost five million handmade security blankets to seriously ill and traumatized children around the globe. Guests are invited to bring brightly colored skeins of yarn or 1 ½ yard swatches of polar fleece for the effort. However, the donation is completely optional.
Perhaps “Parenthood” is not your cup of tea or you are already committed on the 19th. The next series will also be at the Parker Library on November 16th, 1:30-4:30, again free to the public, with the theme of Gratitude.
