McDonough, a Virginia-based architect known for his pivotal influence on the green building movement. He is the founder of William McDonough + Partners, which has offices in San Francisco and Charlottesville, Virginia, and has worked on projects ranging from hospitals to commercial offices to condo towers.
McDonough is known for his 2002 book, “Cradle to Cradle,” which he wrote with Michael Braungart about drastically changing the way recycled materials are used in a variety of industries, from consumer products to construction.
